Patterned Paper Embossing

You Are Everything Wonderful

Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you another card I made while playing with both patterned paper and “patterned” paper by using an embossing folder. The embossing folder for this one is much more complicated of a pattern but the interplay between the folder design and the patterned paper gives it a really stunning look. A simple idea and a simple card but I think the results speak for themselves. I hope you enjoy.

In crafting the backdrop for this card, I once again started with remnants of a patterned paper sheet from a previous project. This remnant was a little smaller than I liked so I trimmed the edges so they were straight and then utilizing double-sided tape adhered it to some coordinating light blue cardstock that really aided in the visual appeal. I next trimmed the panel down to a manageable size for the Intertwined Vines embossing folder from Spellbinders, featured left. Typically I like to give my cardstock a little mist of water on the back of them to hydrate the fibers prior to running them through my die-cutting machine so that the paper more easily bends into shape. I also inked the embossing folder with Hero Arts pigment ink in the color of Unicorn so the pattern would have a nice highlight to it. I placed the misted background panel into the embossing folder and then ran it through my die cutting machine a couple of time to ensure that the edges came out

nice and crisp. As usual with this method, I avoided any cracking or tearing of my paper. I then set it aside to dry.

The next step was to focus on the sentiment. I went with another piece of light blue cardstock as the frame for the sentiment to carry along the theme. I decided to utilize the die from the Gina K Master layout #10 set to cut it out. Next, I used the Honey Bee Stamps Everything Wonderful stamp set, featured right, along with some clear embossing ink to stamp and then heat embossed my sentiment in black. I then mounted the sentiment to the background panel.

Lastly, I cut and folded a matching gray cardstock into my card base. To this, I mounted my background panel with double-sided tape. With that, I called the card complete.
