My Time To Craft Inspirational Design

Autumn Leaves

Good day, fellow crafters. I am thrilled to introduce my inspirational submission for the My Time To Craft Challenge Blog, challenge #519. The theme for this challenge, “Autumn Leaves”, evokes the enchanting transformation of nature during the fall season. As autumn unfolds, nature crafts a splendid masterpiece using a vibrant palette of leaves. With each passing day, as daylight wanes and the air turns crisper, the foliage that adorns trees undergoes a breathtaking metamorphosis. The once-green leaves transform into a captivating array of warm hues – from fiery reds to golden yellows and rustic oranges. These leaves, descending gracefully to the ground, carry with them tales of transition and transformation, symbolizing the beauty found in change.

For every challenge we, as the design team, attempt to bring you themes and ideas that will test your abilities and, ideally, ignite your enthusiasm to explore fresh ways of thinking. However, what I like most about being part of the team is seeing how we each showcase our take on the theme and sometimes just what the card means to the creator.

I hope you are inspired to enter this challenge and I can’t wait to see your creative take on this week’s theme. Be sure to tag me on your entry and/or comment below so I know to watch out for you. Remember Crafting is Happiness!

To create this card I dove back into my collection of pre-made alcohol ink backgrounds and chose some pages that had some very fall leaves vibes. With these in hand, I utilized the Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves dies, featured left, to cut out a bunch of different leaves to use. I then picked the combinations of colors and shapes that I thought looked the best and adhered them to some kraft-colored cardstock with some liquid glue.

The next step was to trim the background panel to its final dimension and then for added visual appeal a brown cardstock mat. To not waste material I next cut my sentiment from the center of the mat and adhered it to the background panel with liquid glue. I then adhered the background panel to the mat with double-sided tape and then that composite to a kraft-colored card base that I cut and folded.

If you want to see how the choice of colors for the leaves really defines the cards take a look at the image in the gallery below. I think it very much makes a difference and while each card is unique it still looks like a uniform set.
