April Fools

Good day, fellow crafters. On April Fools' Day, even the king of fools wears his crown with pride. I hope you enjoy my project.

To create this card I first began with some metallic copper cardstock, the Spellbinders Gimmer Hot Foil System, Spellbinders hot foil in the color Rainbow Confetti, and the Crowned Royalty Glimmer plate and die set featured left. I turned on the machine and let it heat through its first cycle. I have found that with this particular machine I need to heat my dies at least three times to get them to work correctly, though that sometimes is hit or miss. I recommend practicing with your particular method before committing to your final project.

Once heated, I used the manufacturers recommendations to sandwich the plate paper and foil. Once the time went off I took the heat plate off the machines base and ran it through my Spellbinders Platinum 6 a couple of times. I then removed the cover plates and the foil sheet. I did have a little over foiling but that was cleaned up easily. The next step was to fussy cut out the crown and set it to the side.

The next step was to create the background panel. For this I chose to use a plain white cardstock and the Spellbinder Floral embossing folder, featured right. I cut my cardstock to fit the folder, lightly misted the back with water to soften the paper fibers, and then put the cardstock in and ran it through my Platinum 6 a couple of times to ensure a crisp image transfer. Once that was done I set it aside to dry. While that was occurring I used some flat-backed gems from my collection to add some embellishments to the crown’s points as well as folded a white card base.

Finally I assembled the card by using Bearly Arts liquid glue to adhere the background panel to the card base and then the crown to the background panel. With that, I called the card complete.
