Summer Beach

Super Challenges!!!

Good day, fellow crafters. I don't know about y'all, but I've got an itch for a mega beach adventure. Sadly, life is conspiring against me right now, throwing all sorts of crazy stuff my way. Ain't got a minute to spare for a sandy escape to my beloved seaside. But fear not! This little card right here is my inspiration to work in the time to make it. So sit back, relax, and let the waves of inspiration wash over you as we dive headfirst into creating this tantalizing beach outing that'll leave you yearning for more. I hope you enjoy!

To create this idyllic scene, I began by working on the background in three separate layers to achieve a sense of depth. The initial layer consisted of all-blue cardstock, serving as the sky. Onto this, I added a second layer of torn and frayed blue cardstock, giving it a natural undulating appearance. Using Hero Arts Hero Hues pigment ink in the color Unicorn, I applied it to the torn edges, capturing the breaking waves. Additionally, I lightly brushed some ink in the middle of the card where I imagined that the sand would meet, creating a secondary wave break. The third layer was created using some cardstock from my stash that I thought looked like sand and with the assistance of my Honey Bee Sandy Shores stamp and Altenew Crisp ink in Sicilian Amber stamped the image onto the cardstock. To maintain the natural look, I tore the edges of the cardstock, just as I did with the ocean wave which gave it a touch of authenticity, as if the sand had been shaped by the forces of nature. Lastly, all of the pieces were trimmed to size and adhered to each other in the proper order, matted in black to help make the card pop, and then to a pre-cut A2 white card base.

To create all of the images for the foreground I used the Honey Bee Hello Summer stamp set and my Copic markers. Once I had them all colored in, I used the corresponding dies to cut them out. I arranged them as if I had just laid out all my beach things and had stepped back to admire my handiwork. The sentiment for this card was stamped from the Hello Summer set as well using some black pigment ink.

In the midst of life's chaotic hustle and bustle, I find myself yearning for this beach trip. The call of the seagulls, the gentle lull of the waves, and the warmth of the sun on my skin beckon me. But, though I may not have the luxury of an actual beach outing at the moment, this creative endeavor serves as a reminder to nurture my dreams, find moments of respite, and embrace the blissful tranquility that only a beach can provide. So, I will let this blog post be my personal source of inspiration, igniting that flame of anticipation and fueling my determination to carve out the time for that well-deserved beach getaway. The waves are calling!

I hope you have enjoyed my creation and have been inspired to create something of your own. I also encourage you to check out all of the fine blogs that I linked at the top as they provide us the crafters with a place to showcase our work and to come together as a community.
