Falling for Wednesday Hop

Fall Favorites

Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you my entry for Week 2 in the Falling for Wednesdays IG Hop sponsored by @kellysantidesigns. The theme for this week is Fall Favorites and Fall is a season cherished for its unique charm and comfort. With the arrival of cooler weather and vibrant foliage, it's a time for embracing cozy sweaters and relishing the crisp air. The shift in seasons also brings the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature as leaves change color. This season is perfect for taking leisurely strolls and finding joy in the simple pleasures that it offers. I really hope that what I have put together here serves as an inspiration for you to craft something of your own. Enjoy.

Keeping the theme in focus, I opted for the My Favorite Things Apple of My Eye Stamp, which perfectly captures the essence of Fall. Utilizing a sheet of Hammermill white cardstock, I imprinted the image of the young girl using black ink. With the image in place, I embarked on the coloring process, beginning with my preferred technique: dabbing ink onto my glass mat in the desired color, spritzing it with water, and using my water brush pen to absorb the pigment for water coloring the image. This method beautifully brought out the subdued blue backdrop. After completing this step, I set it aside to ensure thorough drying.

After allowing sufficient time for the drying process, I used PrismaColor colored pencils to color in the stamped image. I opted for shades of purples and pinks, as these happen to be the favorite colors of a few individuals I have in mind as recipients. In order to accentuate the adorable qualities of this stamp, I took care to incorporate both highlights and shadows in the image.

The next step was to cut out the background panel and a black mat for visual interest using a couple of different die sizes from the Spellbinders Label 8 die set. I then adhered the two together and then adhered the composite to a pre-cut and folded A2 card base. Once everything was attached securely I chose a sentiment from the same stamp set and stamped it with black ink onto my card completing my design.
